Alexa Wilkins - Director
Alexa brings more than a decade of experience in child wellbeing and safeguarding across the Western Australian Government, with a focus on helping organisations strengthen their systems, practices and culture to better protect and empower children and young people.
Her work has included child safeguarding policy and framework development, risk assessments and organisational capability reviews, training and capacity building, incident response and reporting, and supporting leadership and cultural change. She has also worked to embed child-centred approaches into organisational practice, including consulting directly with children and young people and promoting their voices and perspectives in decision-making.
Alexa’s experience includes roles with the WA Commissioner for Children and Young People and the Department of the Premier and Cabinet where she led policy development and stakeholder engagement to support implementation of recommendations from the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. She also worked in the WA Government’s Child Safeguarding Implementation Unit, leading work to support WA organisations implement robust safeguarding practices.
At AKT Advisory, Alexa brings this experience together with a grounded and thoughtful approach that keeps children's voices at the centre, helping organisations embed effective child safeguarding culture and practices.

Kait McNamara - Director
Drawing on more than 15 years' experience across government, community and health sectors, Kait supports organisations of all sizes to navigate complex child safeguarding responsibilities with confidence. She helps organisations understand where risks exist, implement practical measures to reduce the likelihood of harm, and develop effective child-focused and trauma-informed responses when concerns or incidents arise.
Her background includes serving as Director of Child Safeguarding at the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport, as well as key roles related to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse at the WA Department of the Premier and Cabinet and within the NSW Government. Kait also has extensive experience working with metropolitan and regional communities to strengthen child safety, alongside working directly with children within the hospital system.
This breadth of experience gives Kait a unique perspective on child safeguarding, combining executive leadership, strategic policy development, stakeholder engagement and direct work with children.
Through AKT Advisory, Kait combines this experience and her passion for keeping children safe with an approachable, collaborative and outcomes-focused style, helping organisations build cultures where children's safety and wellbeing are at the heart of every decision.

Tom Fleming - Director
Tom brings to AKT extensive experience in child safeguarding and a strong understanding of the practical challenges organisations face in strengthening their child safe practices.
He works with organisations to translate child safeguarding obligations and reforms into practical, sustainable actions that meet their individual needs. His experience includes developing and strengthening reporting pathways for concerns about child abuse, responding to children and young people displaying harmful sexual behaviours, and implementing child safe policies, procedures and practices.
Tom has held roles with the WA Departments of Communities, Health, and Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport, working across preventative child safety, child safeguarding reform and the implementation of recommendations from the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. He has also worked extensively with WA-based organisations, including supporting local governments by establishing the Local Government Child Safe Project.
Through his work at AKT Advisory, Tom brings a practical, collaborative approach to helping organisations understand their safeguarding responsibilities and identify their unique needs to strengthen their practice. He is committed to supporting organisations to create environments where children and young people are safe, respected and heard.
